WELLINGTON R.C. WINTER MEETING. CONCLUDING DAY. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON. July 22. The Wellington Racing Club’s W’inter Meeting was brought to a close with a good day’s sport. The racing throughout was very interesting, and some very good finishes were witnessed. The Steeplechase provided a good contest, CtArazon winning after a good race. The totalisator investments for the day were .£20,745, making a grand total of £58,018, compared with £34,203 10s for last Winter Meeting. Gray heads the list of winning mounts, his total being 79, Writtaker is second with 77. Concluding results: July Steeplechase, 200 sovs., two miles and a-half—Corazon 1, Hoanga 2, Ribstone Pippin 3. Also started: Sir Lethe, Winiata, Xavier, Levant, Captain Jingle, St. Albert, and Defeat. Hoanga led all the way to the straight, where Corazon* joined him, and after a good race won by a long neck. Defeat and St. Albert fell, and Captain Jingle rah off. Time, smin. 34 3-5 secs. Winter Oats Handicap, 200 sovs., one mile.—Elcctrakoff 1, Wimmera 2, Incv 3. Also started; Metric Zealand, Sir Frisco, Effort, Waipunui, Kilosteri, Flitaway, Negative, Ariom, Moroze, Hilarian, Splash, First Consul, Royal Marino, and Seaweed. Wimmera led, till onnofiite the stand, hut lost by a head to Electrakoff. Time, 1.46 3-5. Final Hurdle Handicap, 250 sovs., one mile and three-quarters:—North-East 1, Don Qucx 2. Napper 3. Also started: The Rover, To Ru, Miss Explosion, Longner, and Hydrant, North-East won all the way. Time, 3.21. Kia Ora Handicap, 100 sovs, six furlongs.—Odessa 1, Sandy Paul 2, Big Blast 3. Also started: Amaru, Kingswell, jind Lady Septimus. Won by a nose. Time, 1.22. The annual meeting of members of the Wanganui Jockey Club will be held at Foster’s Hotel at 8 o’clock this evening.
