It declares that the Coronation festivities proved that South Africa was not lacking in loyalty. It was absurd that the Empire should be plunged into war simply because the Government of one portion happened to devclon a quarrel. Tlie lion. J. B, M. Hertzog, Minister for Justice, speaking at Turkfonteiu, said there was no reason to resort to immigration to cope with danger without and within South Africa. The situation in South Africa was not like that in Australia and Canada, The nearest enem-' was 7000 miles distant. South Africa did not participate in European intrigues, and was not concerned in European ambitions.
