WANGANUI GARRISON BAND

The annual meeting of the Garrison Band was held, on Wednesday evening, J. Trussell presiding. The annual report testified to the sue cess of Conductor Wade's efforts to maintain the band's high standard, detail'*] additions to the. band-room and to the music library at a cost of £'7o, thanked the Borough Council for help given, and gave special praise to the Wanganui pabiic for its generous support, and a!»o to those .who had assisted at the band's bazaar. Special mention was alsomade of the band's indebtedness to Mr 0. Aliomes (treasurer), and Mr J. T. Miiir who, in addition to other services, gave invaluable aid as manager during "the band's Ballarat trip. Several resignations bad taken nlace during the v" a.ibut most of the vacancies had been filled, and no difficulty was expected in filling the two remaining. Conductor Wade's report showed that the band had met 243 tines during the year, and had worked up 127 new selections in that time.

The treasurer's balance-sheet showed a record amount,, with a substantial credit balance remaining. The following officers were unanimously re-elected:—Conductor. Mr A. Wade; lion, secretary, Mr J. Hearty votes of thauks were passed to Mr L. Cohen and Drum-Major Harrison for their services to the band. Various matters in connection with the next contest were considered, and the Band decided to go fully into the mailer at an early date.
