Lyttelton Gaol, Mr M. Cleary, declared emphatically that Terry ought not to be at liberty for he could not be trusted. While in gaol Terry was given •special priivlegcs and was kindly treated, but responded by abusing the warders and trying on three occasions to burn down the gaol. Mr Cleary and another gentleman who is well acquainted with the prisoner, agree in 1 the statement that Terry’s antipathy to the Jewish race is almost as pronounced as lias antijmthy to Chinese, and imply that this is an additional reason why the petition for relcaase should not be granted.
