RAGGING AND DEATH.

YOUNG AUSTRIAN OFFICER’S TERRIBLE ORDEAL. VIENNA,'ApriI 16. Ten officers of the Austrian army are tj be court-martialled for alleged participation in a “ragging” escapade. The affair resulted in the death of a Lieutenant Yessinie, and was a particularly foolish practical joke. Six uncanny figures entered the young officer’s room at night, and stood before him. He emptied his six-chambered re volver at them, but the figures did not move, and Yessinie fell to the ground in an apoplectic fit, and, despite all medical effort, died.

It is said that the “raggers” had bribed the dead officer’s servant to substitute blank shells in the revolver.
