The executive-committee,, appointed oy the general committee' to arrange and control the forthcoming campaign to secure an adequate building'for the young. men of Wanganui Met last evening. Mr Len. E. Bassett occupied the chair. Reports were received from the publicity and estimate committee. Printed matter and literature were well under way, and the first instalment will be immediately itoued to the public on being received ■ from the printers .in a few days. ■" The matter of the amount to be raised, as the objective of the campaign was discussed with much deliberation. The estimate committee met on quite' a number' of occasions', aiid'fully considered the matter. Detailed lists were prepared' and, thoroughly estimated, with the result that ; a was forwarded to the executive that the objective be .£6OOO, exclusive ofa site, for which an,effort was to be made for a lice gift. ' This report was at, length adopted by the executive, and it was further resolved that the duration of the campaign of appeal shall be for a short, period of ten,, davs, commencing on May 10 and concluding ou May 20. . The matter of securing, if possible, a site immediately was held essential to the progress of the campaign, and it was decided that an effort should bo at once made to that end.

The important phase of thejCampaign is the .systematic canvass of the town during the 10 days by business gentlemen and teams of young men—-the former to interview business men as per a carded list, while the latter will visit those only whose, namcn appear on a special list ' for the teams. Amongst these latter there is to lie a healthy rivalry, the competitive spirit adding-much* to the enthusiasm. There arc to bo ten teams, and these, as also the business men's committee and other sections of the campaign, will not participate in any active appeal until the opening day—May 10, and then for ten days only Mr Hinds reported that teams were in formation. Niue chosen men had already agreed to- captain teams, and that on the completion of the complement these would be called together to consider plans. 'It 1 was also decided to call a meeting of ladies to meet the executive with a view of enlisting, their sympathy. Arrangements were also considered for th«inaugural meetings of the appeal, wliilp , n sub-cuinmittoe wns appointed to arrange for suitable luadqnarters. ,
