CHAFFINCH MINE CASE.

In the Chaffinch case, evidence given by postal employees indicated that a certain telegram relating to the mine had been tampered with. Detective Brown deposed that when arrested Bonwick stated that Greenway had been driven nearly mjd by the crowd, who, at the revolver point, had compelled him to report favourably on the mine, but Greehway conceited the telegram and soon got loose.
