LAWN TENNIS.

The Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association met last evening, when further arrangements for the Easter tournament were made. The Grounds Committee reported that the courts would he in good order, and that the preparation was going on satisfactorily. The refreshment committee reported that good arrangements had been made for catering. The following umpiring committee was elected; —Misses McCaul (convenor), 'Strouts, and Strange. .It was decided to hold a meeting prior to the tournament, when the rules of the game would the read. Entries close on April 4. ■ A representative match will be played at Patea against the Patea Club on Saturday, April 8. The team will b© selected at the end of the week. A match will be played between Aramoho and Fordell at Fordel] next Thursday. The Aramoho team will he; Miss Barkman, Miss Gilbert, Mrs Billows. Miss Allomes, Messrs Strange, Brighton, Davis, and Gbldshury. The team will travel by the 1.45 train. AEAMOHO v WANGAEHU. The above return match was played on the Aramoho courts on Saturday afternoon, and respited in a win for Wangaehu by 11 sets to 7 and 98 games to 961 The ladies of the visiting team outclassed the local -ladies, winning all the three singles and, with their partners, won the three combined games. There was not time to play the ladies’ doubles, or no doubt they would also have-annexed them. In the men’s games the honours in the singles were even, each club winning four sets, and in the doubles Aramoho won three out of four. The Wangaehu Club is .showing great enthusiasm this season. ' New asphalt courts have been put down, and an allround improvement,-in play has been general. . ; AEAMOHO v QUEEN’S PAEK. A return match between the above clubs will be played next Saturday on the Aramoho courts. This match is being looked forward to by players with much interest, as the Easter tournament is now not far distant, and players are seeking as much practice as possible. The following will play for Aramoho:—Ladies (6); Misses Barkman, Gilbert, Wadey, Mrs Wagstaff, and Mrs Billows; Men; Messrs Marshall, Eev. Patchett, Wagstaff, Morrin, Wehley, Lane, Holland, and Walker. Any of the above who will he unable to play, kindly communicate with the lion, secretary. The following players will represent Queen’s Park in their game against Aramoho on Saturday next: — Messrs Clark, Thomson, Lampe, Jones, Anderson, McCarthy, Tukore, McCaul, arid Mrs Gordon Mrs : Slipper, Mrs Anderson, Miss Swan, Miss Thomson, and Miss Munro. t . . The final of The ladies’ handicap at Queen’s Park was'played last evening between Mrs Anderson and; Miss Purser, and resulted in a win fjjr the latter by 45‘to 39, after: a very "interesting game.
