AN ITALIAN JAMESON RAID INTO TURKEY. ROME. March 2. A sort of Jameson raid into Albania in the spring has been arrangeu by General Ricciotti Garibaldi, only surviving son of the Italian hero, “for the deliverance of Albania” from the Turk. General Garibaldi recently addressed a letter to his friends exhorting them to rush to the aid of the Albanians, who are struggling for their independence. The letter was published in the newspapers, and rrovoked an official denial, which stated that no expedition of Garibaldians was contemplated, nor would one be allowed by the Government. Signor Garibaldi, however, has been interviewed by the Giornale dTtalian. and states that for the past five years he has presided over a committee purposely formed to aid the Albanians. His hopes that a new era would dawn in Albania under the Young Turks have been disappointed. The Albanians arc now in open revolt, and he was determined, to help them as he helped the Greeks against the 'Lurks. He added that naturally he would not ask permission of the Italian Government to organise an expedition, but he was convinced that one could not be prohibited. General Garibaldi concluded that a revolution is bound to break out next spring, and when necessary he will lead his followers to the help of Albania. He will not organise an expedition nor collect recruits, but will start when the time is ripe, if it is only with a handful of men. and thus continue the traditions of his father and his red-shirted followers.
