Forty-three applications were received by the Dannevirke Borough Council for the position of assistant town clerk. They came from all over the Dominion. It turns out that the quasi-commercial traveller, who was fined iTOO or seven tnontha’ imprisonment for having his sample bags full of whiskey w’hen in the King Country, is not unknown to the police. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
