DROWNING ACCIDENT.
INQUEST. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN. March 27. An inquest bn human remains found at St. Clair at the end of last week, supposed to be those of Joseph Williams, who was drowned a little more than a fortnight ago while bathing, was held to-day. After evidence had been given, the Coroner (Mr Graham) said it was unfortunate the remains had been so far injured in the sea that they were . not capable positive identification. Taking everything into consideration, the accident on the 12th inst., in which Williams was known to have lost ]iis life, the proximity of the remains to the place of the accident, the evidence of Dr. Ogston as to details of fragments which he had examined, and its confirmation by deceased’s brother, he thought it left no possible doubt as to whether the remains were those of Joseph Williams. Ho would therefore record a verdict that these Were the remains of Williams, and thus perhaps prevent trouble in the future. There was no doubt it was a case of accidental drowning.
