WANGANUI GUARDS. HOBSON AND SON’S TROPHY. The above trophy was advanced a further stage on Thursday and Saturday last week, when the third competition was fired in conjunction with the company cup. On Saturday afternoon last, before commencing operations, Capt. Cunningham, on behalf of the Rifles, invited the Guards, through Lieutenant Cade, to a friendly mate a between their Saturday members, 10 men aside. The result was a keen and intrestiug competition, victory resting with the Guards by the narrow margin of 6 poiars, they scoring 313 points at 200 vards and 313 at 500 yards, as against the Rifles’ 313 and 310.
