GISBORNE ITEMS.
ANOTHER MYSTERIOUS FIRE. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE, March 27. Another fire occurred at Makaraka on Saturday night, destroying Gaine Carrington’s stables on the opposite side of the road to where Sorry's house t was, destroy, ed that morning. The origin of the fire is also unknown, The insurance on’ die building was illoo in the Norwich Union. The contents, which were mostly saved, were insured for ,£73. W. McMurray, a bankrupt, was arrested at Hamilton after a resolution of (j|ie creditors, and brought before the Registrar of the Supreme Court to-day. The amount of his indebtedness is about -£230. The Regis, trar said the Act required tho debtor i« he kept in custody until he found sufficient sureties to appear from time to time. The debtor said he was unable to obtain sureties. The Registrar said that as the debtor had already gone, he would have to insist on sound sureties, and ho stipulated that the sureties should he two, of iJ7S each. ,
