The Wanganui Trotting Club’s annual meeting was brought to a most successful conclusion yesterday. The weather on both days was delightfully fine, and the gathering was much more successful than any the club has previously held. The attendance yesterday was very satisfactory, the fields were good, and. the sport interesting. The principal event was won by Ding-Dong, who trotted much more kindly than on the first day, giving a very line display. Waikino also shaped in much better style than on Thursday, and won the Eastbrook handicap easily. An inquiry was held into the gelding’s running, with the result that Dio explanation tendered was considered satisfactory by the stewards, and' the judge's placing was allowed to stand. Lady "Victor landed a double for Mr J. Harle, winning the Trial Handicap and the Farewell, and showing line form in both events. The officials of the club are to be congratulated oil the management of tha meeting, which left nothing to be desired. In this connection special credit is due to Mr Selby Morton, the secretary, who was backed up by an enthusiastic committee. The totalisator was again well patronised, yesterday’s takings amounting to ,£I9(K) 10s, as against .£IOO on the second day last year, 'flic total investments for the meeting were .£411“ 10s, as against £721 in 1910, an increase of £3392. Mention must be made of the good work done by Mr Ulic Shannon as handicapper and starter. Though (ho hack markers appeared to have been set tasks which were too severe in most of the events, it has to be remembered that the handicapper had nothing to guide him in connection with the form of many of the horses, which came from widely different parts, so that it was almost impossible to bring them together. The following are the concluding results ;
