STRANGE RACING INCIDENT.

A sensational incident occurred in th» miming of the Maiden Hack Race at the picnic meeting of the Bethanga (Vic.) Eaoing Club on Saturday week. A visitor from Tumnt, New South Wales, mounted on horseback, rode across the track as the horses entered the straight, and interfered ■with tire favourite (Feretrius). Appleton, •■who rode' Feretrius, steered clear of the intruder, and won by three lengths. The man was taken into custody, handcuffed, and tied to a post, where he remained until the arrival of two Justices, when he was liberated on bail.
