RUMOURS OF COMPROMISE.
THE VETO QUESTION
Press Opinions. Press Association.—Telegraph.-Copyright. Received March -33, 9.30 a.m. LONDON, March 22. Rumours arc increasing that a compromise on the Veto question ig materialising. The Times says that some moderate Liberals are putting out feelers as to whether a compromise would he acceptable; also that the Nationalists and Labourites are being sounded as to whether they favour the proposal of a joint committee to settle the deadlock, provided the representatives of both Houses are such as to secure to the Government of the day. A majority of Labourites wrathfully oppose the idea. The Chronicle remarks that these silent negotiators have not been encouraged by the support as yet accorded them. The Daily News hopes the Government appreciates the gravity of allowing breathing space for intrigue.
