PERSONAL.
The funeral of George Hart, late chief reporter of the Christchurch Press, this morning was virtually private, but the local newspaper staffs attended in full strength and many institutions and public bodies sent representatives to express their sympathy with the relatives. Telegrams of condolence were received from all parts of the Dominion. Mr E. F. Hemingway, who has been for nine years town clerk, was last night entertained at a large public gathering, and presented with an address and a purse of sovereigns, and Mrs Hemingway with a silver tea service. Mr Hemingway leaves Stratford to take over the Patea Press.— Stratford wire.
