Wo remind our readers of the political address to be delivered by Mr A.. L. Herdman, M.P. for Wellington North, in the Opera House to-morrow (Friday) night. Electors are invited to hoar one of "the leading members of the Opposition—one who always commands a good hearing whenever he addresses a public meeting. “Wanted. 5000 English girls, willing to become the wives of young Canadian farmers.” To find these 5000 is the work of a Canadian immigration agent just arrived in England. Interviewed by the Daily Mail, he stated that there were in Western Canada 30,000 eligible and prosperous bachelors who were in want of female society. The Northern Railway Company of Canada is determined to “get over the difficulty in a very simple way.” Hence the quest for 5000 domesticated girls of unimpeachable character. The agent declared with modesty: “I do not consider that I personally am competent to select the 5000 young women, but while I shall myself be m charge of the crusade, six tactful and wise lady officials will undertake the work of selection in. the villages and towns of the south and west of England.
