AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC

OPERA HOUSE. FULLER’S PICTURES TO-NIGHT. A remarkably interesting picture of. the strides made in the cattle-raising industry in recent years in the Argentine will be screened at the Opera House this evening. An excellent .film of a great cattle show at Buenos Ayres conveys very clearly the class of cattle produced in that country. A dramatic picture of a rather pathetic turn is “The Lesson'/' a fine production by the A.B. 'Company. Flic story is built" on the Commandment,

•'Honour' thy father and ■ thy mother/-' and shows how the desires of an aged minister that his son should follow in his footsteps ’is thwarted by the passion of the son for a ’wild life. It is a splendid picture, and teaches a great lesson, ■.n sensational vein is “The Cowpuncher’s Glove” and “On the Mexican Border.” The industrial section is admirably served by two very good pictures illustrating “Hat-making in Java” and the “Karlsbad °orcclain Works.” The comedy films are of a vary attractive nature, and include '•Recreation of an Heiress,” “White Roses” (the story of a bashful lover), and “The Sheriff and Miss Jones.” There are several other high-class productions, the whole selection going to make one of the most attractive" yet presented by tbe Fuller management. Mr R. O’Hara’s Symphony Orchestra will be in charge of the musical portion of the programme. “SEVEN DAYS.” On Wednesday next, at ...the Opera ousc, Mr Hugh J. Ward, Miss Grace Pa lotta, and the clever combination supporting them, make a farewell visit to Wanganui. ' Both the principals retire from the. Australasian stage at the cud of the tlio present tour in June next. “Seven Days,” the comedy Mr Ward lips secured for his final appearance in, is 7 by Mary Roberts Rinehart and Avery Hopwood and has brought both fame and money to the joint authors. “Seven Days" is dc scribed as a quarantine comedy. Tim story is written round the experiences of a party of ladies and gentlemen who while at a dinner at a fashiouablej bouse are quarantined through the butter con traeting smallpox. Ladies who have hat no experience have to perform the house hold duties, and, with the gentlemen draw lots for the various duties—a police man who is locked up in the house draw; the role of ladies’ maid, and other extra ordinary duties are allotted to the wron; people. Taken altogether, the possibili tics of the play appear to be almost tin ‘limited for fun and merriment, and itho hands of this compact company wil receive full justice. The box plans ope’ on Saturday morning at H. I. Jones ant Sou’s. \ THE CROME COMPANY. The Belle Crome Company made th-ei. last appearance in the Opera House las, evening, wiien there was an excellent downstair, and a fair upstair house. Another delightful programme was submit ted, every item being vociferously encored. .The bell ringing, sleigh bells, and xylophone numbers were again very popu lar; Miss Ethel Richards charmed every’ one with her fresh, sweet voice, while Miss Belle Crome, Messrs Fane, Llewellyn and Hughes were all in excellent form. The two Arnolds again kept their audi ence amused and interested with ‘theii qlcver and humorous juggling. Mr W. E. Crome had a heavy evening’s work as accorapanist, but acquitted himself splendid ly. The company intends to pay a return visit here in three or four months, whetcrowded houses should greet them, for a better and brighter entertainment it would be hard to find. At the same time 1 Mr Crome, who was formerly organist of Port! Cathedral (W.A.), will, give an organ rc cital if the necessary arrangements can be made to enable him to do so-
