Overcome with ennui, one conceived the novel idea of prospecting the city sidewalks for hairpins, and, starting from the Hotel Waldorf Astoria, he wandered around the principal blocks accompanied by the other millionaire. The searcher’s eyes were glued to the sidewalk, but he was lucky enough to find a hairpin on each of the nine blocks, and won £9OO, £IOO for each.
