WANGANUI FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. There was a fairly large attendance at the annual general meeting of the Wangauui Football Association, held in Christ Church Schoolroom last evening, Mr C. E. Mackay presiding. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and confirmed, and showed the association to be in a healty state, both as regards membership and funds. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr C. E. Mackay; president, Mr W. M. Davidgc; vice'presidents, Messrs M. Russell, J. A. Jacob, J. T. Muir, Jas. Watson, J. Lambe, T. H. Nixon, W. G. Herd, E. Walpole, J. .G'. Swan, C. M. Cresswell, P. Lewis, G. M. Gardiner, W. S. Corby and J. A. Fiildlay; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. Aitken.; delegate to N.Z.F.A., Mr E. C. Hayton. In presenting the Senior Cup to the winners of last season's competition, the Easbbrook Club, the chairman complimented them ii}son winning such a valuable trophy. During the evening, Mr Davidgc, on behalf of a number of old Association players, presented the Association with a handsome shield for league competition. Mr Davidgo said that ho hoped it would be the means of fostering greater interest in the Association game, and it was for this purpose that the shield had been obtained. In replying, the Chairman thanked the donors sincerely for their handsome gift, and expressed the belief that the players generally would come forward and show their appreciation ai the thoughtfulness of the donors by making the competition a hard-fought and keen one. The shield, which was manufactured locally by Messrs_J)rew, is a line specimen of the silversmith's work, bearing a centre plate with an excellent engraving of an Association game in progress, and also a large amount of ornamental designs representative of the game. The shield is intended for yearly competition, and should s?rve splendidly for that purpose. The Football Association is Ir<> be heartily congratulated in having so many-well-wishers who have conic forward in such a handsome manner to support the game. It was decided to formally open the season on April 8 with a friendly game, Wanganui versus Eastbrook, on Victoria Park.
