Fort William, the winner of the Napier Cup and the Close MemoriaTHandicap, was bred by his owner. His dam, Siminia, was by St, Leger from the imported marc Siraonias, whose dam Simonian was a grand-daughter of Shannon, the winner of both the "Goodwood and Doncaster Cups.’ Shannon was a half-sister to Trent, who won the Grand Prix, and hails from the Promise branch of the No. 1 family, the mote recent prominent members of which are Minting, The Lambkin, The. Hard, Santoi, and Tally.
