SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS

KAiTOKE. The annual meeting of householders was held .in the ScKoolliouse on Monday evening. There was a very poor attendance, though somewhat better than usual.

The annual report on the year’s working, and management" of the school affairs, as submitted to the meeting, showed a steady advar.ee in making, as one speaker .said, “Kaitokc School second to none in the district.” The balance sheet showed a credit of £3 6s. od.

Mr. Benoni White complimented the retiring committee on the management of the school affairs generally, and proposed the adoption of the report, which, was seconded by Mr. Hughes, and carried.

The same gentleman also proposed, that this meeting of householders regards with surprise and indignation the scant attendance at this the annual mooting, indicating as it does apathy and want of interest in school work; and this meeting considers such a reproach to the residents and parents of the district. Seconded by Mr. Hughes and carried.

The following gentlemen were, then elected a committee;— Messrs J. Allison. JV Jackson, J. Woolston, C. W. Hoffmann. J. H. Bowater, W. Hughes am! S. A. Morgan. Mr Woolston was elected chairman.
