WANTED CN INDIA. Press Association—Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON. April 27. Lord Kitchener’s arrival is the theme of many leading articles in the London Press. The Times refers to his coming duties in the Mediterranean, and says that it is l.ut natural that he should he attracted bv the prospect of renewed work in Egypt, • «nt England is loth that lie should be lost to view for any great length of time. The Chronicle, in a special article, says •hat although the Mediterranean is still iae geographical centre of the Empire it is almost ludicrously unworthy of Lord, Kitchener's abilities. He could exhaust all its possibilities in three mouthtt. Tlie Chronicle adds that it is the incessant erv of every Anglo-Indian: “When Lord Minto goes, send ns K. of K.”
ARRIVAL AT SOUTHAMPTON. Impressions of N.Z. and Australia. Received April 23, 9 50 a.m. LONDON, April 27. Field-Marshall Lord Kitchener has arrived at Southampton. He received an enthusiastic reception. Interviewed regardiug New Zealand and Australia, he said they were places of the greatest possible interest. He had been highly impressed with all he saw. The people had shown the greatest keenness in putting del cnee on a more satisfactory footing. No doubt it was their intention to make great improvements. lie regretted lie had no time to visit Canada, but it would have been a jwer compliment to hurry through the Dominion. He was much impressed with the Japanese army, and the general activity and energy displayed in all departments of Japanese life.
