PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS.
OVERCOMING A DIFFICULTY,

The trouble over the nomination of representatives of the Wharf Labourers’ Union to the Waterside Workers’ Wages Board, through free labourers seeking to be represented, was settled by the free labourers’ nominee withdrawing. Mr W. M. Hughes, on behalf of the Union, stated that with a view to casing the position the Unionists had decided not to press for preference in the Board’s award.
The president of the Industrial Court, in accepting the nomination of two Unionists to the Board, congratulated the Union Upon its action, which had helped the 'Court out of a difficulty.
