TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln reply to your correspondent, ■‘Employee.” who writes on behalf of shop assistants, I may state that shop assistants are the worst for shopping at and' after closing hours, and would have us work all Saturday night. “Employee’s” letter savours of selfishness as we workers hi combined shops and factories will have to lose an hour’s work and pay every week if cur employers close on Thursdays at 12 instead of 1 o’clock. If shop assistants had voted for Saturday half-holiday this could have been arranged at the week-end but you accepted the bribe at our expense: —I am, etc., A WOEKEE.
