INSURANCE PROPOSALS.

WELLINGTON, March 31. At the. Hiberian Conference to-day a proposal was brought forward .“That any financial benefit member may, on furnishing his branch certificate of good health, assure himself for .£SO, payable at death, in addition to his i>2o funeral allowance, by paying quarterly, in advance, to the funeral fund, payments based on the following scale:—l 7to 20 years, at commencement, 2s 4d per quarter; 20 to 25 years/ 2s lOd; 25 to 30 , 3s 4d; 30 to 35, 3s lid; 35 to 40, 4s 10d; 40 to 45, 6s Id; 45 to 50/ 7s 8d; 50 to 55, 9s 8d; 55 to 60, 12s 5d per quarter.” The discussion laster the greater part of the morning, and was not completed at the lunch adjournment. Every delegate who spoke, with one single exception, approved of the scheme. The opponent said the society would be unjustifiably trenching on the legitimate domain of insurance companies.
