WAIROA’S EXPERIENCES.

Very Heavy Flood

WAIROA, March 31. A terrific rain and wind storm has been raging since yesterday, and all the rivers are in heavy flood, and thh wharves submerged. River-side sheds and stores are being cleared. The, Harbour Board offices are flooded, and all low-lying lands and roads are under water. Several settlers on the town flat are cut off from town. In the country several bridges are 20ft under water, and the settlers cut off. Land slides and slips have taken place in all directions. Telegraphic communication with the north is interrupted, and all coaches are blocked. The extent of the damage is not as yet ascertainable, but stock losses are likely to be heavy.
