Democratic Demonstration.

LONDON, December 5. The Radical newspaper Nation calls upon hundreds of thousands ol Englishmen to refuse to pay the taxes should the Government be overthrown at the election.

The National Democratic League held a demonstration, attended by 7000, in Trafalgar Square. Resolutions were carried protesting against the Lords' rejection of the Budget. Dr Clifford and a dozen Liberal and Labour members were the, speakers. There were many banners, and an effigy of the peers was paraded. It consisted of a turnip cut into the likeness of a face, with a paper, crown, carried on a redrobed pole, labelled — "The first born." It caused much merriment and booing.
