SEDGEBHOOK.— The engineer reported on the necessity of opening up short lengths of drainage to clear storm water • -If the Board's property at Sedegebrook. — Resolved to notify the tenants to re•ew the drains in terms of their leases.

POHANGINA.— The Pohangina Technical School Committee wrote requesting :i donation towards the school's funds, ' itinsf that the Board's property at PoI angina would be enhanced in value by l-e erection of the e^'iool. — Resolved to > ,'ly that the Board could not legal Hive out of its funds to the school.

LICENSING.— The Marine Department

STREETS. — Messrs C. M. Oresswdl <>■' jirmaii), T. Glenn, and P. Swan, representing the Castlecliff Town Boa'd waited on the Board with a request for assistance in the Town Board's streot improvement scheme, which would considerably improve several streets intersecting the Board's property. — After the deputation had conferred with the Board and explained some details of the proposals, it was a freed that the Town Board's foreman and the Harourb Board's engineer should go over the streets in question, that the Town Board formulate a scheme, and that the Works Committee of the Harbour Board then discuss the matter, and report. PUTIKI ROAD. — The chairman reported that the committee appointed had gone into the matter of the Putiki Road, and after a thorough inspection of the locality had found that, instead of going down the river bank, a connection with another existing road was possible, with only a small piece of land in respect of which compensation would need to be paid. — It was resolved to await necessary legal information from the Board's solicitors, before taking further action.

Castlecliff Leases.

Mr. D. Jones wrote re the Board's proposal tor him to surrender his lease at Caetlecliff, stating that he was willing to do so if allowed to retain a quarter of an acre on which he had built a house, at a proportionate rental to that he was I aympf foi- the whole, lie to receive d 6250 for surrendering the remainder. He stated that he had made the price as low as possible, recognising that it would be detrimental for one individi&l to hold so much laud near the beach which might be wanted for a public resort. Thr. chairman 6tated that the land in question was formerly intended for a public reserve, but had been leased, and Mr Jones had taken the lease over. He had pointed out to Mr Jones that the Board's intention in asking for the surrender of the lease was merely to use it as a reserve.

The secretary, in answer to a question, «aid the area was just under 4 acres. The lease was originally granted to a Mrs Bilton, who transferred it to Mr Jones about two years ago.
