HIS FIRST SPEECH.
Mr Muir had stated that the speaker made his first speech at the last Mayoral contest in the Liverpool Street Schoolroom. That was incorrect, as he (Mr Mackay) had opened his last Mayoral campaign in St. Paul's Hall, his opponent, Mr Bignell, commencing in the St. John's room, and, as Mr Muir had so aptly put it, "History has a knack of repeating itself."
