Mr Mackay at Liverpool Street

The inclement weather did not deter a fair number of burgesses attending at the St. John's School last night to hear Mr C. E. Mackay speak on municipal matters. Mr J. G. Hudson was voted to the chair.

Mr Mackay stated that Mr Muir had devoted most of his address to observations concerning him, and he proposed to devote part of his time to replying to certain of the statements made. During his (the speaker's) first address he had been very careful to avoid personalities, and he regretted that Mr Muir had not done the same. His address apparently consisted mostly of attacks on Mr Mackay, who ciaimed that he could easily retaliate, but preferred not to do so. Mr Mackay claimed that Mr Muir was allied to 4he party which had consistently opposed him, and that he was receiving most of his support from that party now.
