The Advance on Constantinople begun.
The Sultan promises to Maintain
the Constitution.
LONDON, April 17. Renter's Salonika agent reports that two battalions have proceeded by rail to Constantinople, whiel others are preparing to start.
The Sultan's proclamation' maintains the Constitution and the Sherefiat, and urges tranquillity.
[Salonika is on the south coast of Turkey, situated at the head of the Gulf of Salonika, an inlet of the JSgean Sea. It is about 300 miles distant from Constantinople.]
