SCULLING.
FOGWELL AND WHELCH. BY "VICTOR." In connection with the above match, the latest news from Akaroa is to the effect that training proceeds with regularity, and with the near approach of Easter Monday there is much speculation as to the winner. The friends of both men are confident, and the general opinion is that it will be a close race from start to finish. It is expected that the first half of the distance will be stubbornly contested, and that with anything like favourable weather conditions the pnblich will witness a very fast race. Fogwell, who had been a bit "off colour" for a few days, during which he did easier work, has , recovered, and shows himself a great starter and very speedy over the first mile. Whelch, after several alterations to his riggers, had his first spin in his new Norton on Saturday, and expressed himself as well satisfied with her. He- has - improved greatly under Webb's care, and seems to be sculling better than ever.
