SCIENTIFIC TREATMENT OF PRISONERS.
(Per United Pn*» Association). WELLINGTON, April 1, The Hon. Dr. Findlay has obtained a report fiom Dr. Hay, Inspector of Asylums, regarding 40 piibout rs who might be suitable subjects for tiausfer from the gaols to the existing tree-planting stations. The report deals with the circumstances, character, and records of each prisoner, and only those whom the criminologist recommends will be transferred. It is understood this is the first application of scientific criminal anthropology dealing with the outcasts of society detained in gaols.
