Mr Jennings is also asking the Minister of Lands whether, as a matter of urgency, he can devise some means this session to relieve the position of a large number ol nettlera in the bush districts, by extending the principle of the Bush ' and Swamp Oiown Lands Settlement Act to such settlers as can prove hardship, and whose cases may be recommended by the local Land Boards.

A number of settlers, Mr Jennings says, will fail, unless some means are quickly devised. The Land Boards are sympathetic, but have no power to relieve these settlers.
