At the wool sales Buxton, Ducroy and Ba line's joint catalogue was 13,379 bales, including 7295 New Zealand, consisting largely of 6lipea and scoureds. There was a full attendance, including v Americans. There was keen competition in all quarters for all best wools. Compared with the July clorfing, good merino was unchanged and faulty to shabby from par to 5 per cent, easier. Fine crossbreds were unchanged; coarse greasies 5 per cent, easier; slipes and scoured 7£ per cent. There is good competition for wool, and opening prices are maintained.

WELLINGTON, October 1

A cable from the ,High Commissioner, dated London, 30th September, states that the wool sales have commenced, the attendance and competition being satisfactory. America and the Continent are buying and shipping suitable lots. The best wools realise the same prices as those ruling at the close of last sales, inferior qualities •being a farthing lower.
