THE PROPOSED ALTERATION IN RULES.

(Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, -September 29. The Management Committee of the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union to-night decided to endorse the major portion of the alterations in the rules of the game suggested by the Otago Union.

WELLINGTON, October 1.

A special meeting of the local Rugby Union was held last evening to consider the proposed alterations in the game, but everything proposed was rejected, except that matches should be played in four spells of 20 minutes each. A motion that this Union votes against any proposal to pay out-of-pocket expenses, or for loss of time, was carried by 17 to 5.
