Miss Ethel Bignell, a Wanganui girl, was most successful at the recent examinations of the Associated Board of the R.A.M., and R.C.M., held in Auckland. She heads the list of passes in her division.

Mr and Mrs J. J. Boyd and daughter, of the Aramoho Tea Gardens, returned yesterday from Sydney.

Forty children, including three sets of twine, have been born to Tito and Susana Loudons, who live in the Spanish village of Rio Negro, in Aragon. Twenty five of the children survive.

The Hong-Kong opium dens will be closed in March. Pending the sanction ot the Imperial Government compensation will be paid to the owners at the rate of nearly .£6,000 monthly.
