DUNEDIN, February 3

The body of a man named Joseph Robson, a groom, who was out^of work, was found almost decapitated by the side of the railway, 60 chains south of Ravensbourne station, this afternoon. '

Two passengers by the north express state that. they saw deceased throw himself between the carriages from a secondclass carriage platform. _ The deceased a day or two ago gave his)self up to the police, requesting >to be locked up, as he was destitute and unable to obtain employment. He was charged with vagrancy at the Police Court this morning, and was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. He left the Court with Mr Cumming, of the Patients' and Prisoners' Aid Society. A second-class ticket for Oamaru and a shilling, given to him by Mr Cumming, were all that were found, in the pockets of the deceased.
