Considerable interest was taken in th<> game played on Saturday between St. Paul's, and East own. The contest, which took place on tin- Racecourse, was a \ciy even one, and exceedingly l.isf. Hell and W. Miller did *.vmc guva clean hitting in the first spell, but had Iho bun in their eyes, and had to contend against a very oound defence. A lot of even and exciting play followed, Bell, Gibson, aud Thomson lor St. Paul's, and Cave, Giirr, and Hardwieke for Eastown being conspicuous. The spell ouded without any further 6core. Shortly after changing endh Naylor, with a' fast run, crave Brodie another chance, and the latter shot another left-hander. Harris, Gurr, and Hardwieke made bi«y efforts for Eastown, and the latter player had the satisfaction finally of sending the ball between the posts, just before the call of time. The game thus ended in a win for St. Paul's by 2 goalq to 1. Mr Wakeley rcicrced ably. The T.Y.M.l.met and defeated Maxwell on Saturday by 2 goals to 1. The losers only had nine men, but it wa«i only in the last few minutes that the winning hit was made. Mr Burnett relerced. The Boys' High School defeated T.Y.M.I. iv a junior match by 3 goals to 1. The Waverlcy ladies' club played their first match of tho season on Saturday at Waverley against a team troni the Hawera High School. The game, which was fa*t aud interesting, eu'ied in a djaw, each side scoring a goal.
