SCULLING.

THE STANBURY-WEBB MATCH.

BY "VICTOR." As a large number of people have intimated their desire to leave town as early as possible on Boxing Day for Kaiwhaike, so as to take full advantage of the opportunity to have a good day's outing (mcnicing) with their families and friends the committee have decided that the first boats shall leave at 8 a.m., and will run up and down thereafter as fast as possible. The first lot of boats will undoubtedly be the most convenient to travel with, as the later ones will be crowded by the thousands coming in from the country. It is requested that, wheeled traffic, in the interest of .public safety, stop where the road winds round the cliff. Just opposite the proposed stopping point Mr R. Earle has kindly placed a paddock at the disposal of the committee for the accommodation of horses and traps. A' walk of a few hundred yards and the picnic grounds will be reached, and from adjacent hills a splendid view of the race is fissured. In addition to being able 'to secure fresh milk afe town prices the public will be provided with hot water, if required, or they can procure fresh water from Mrs Caldwcll, if they prefer to do their own "billy boiling." The Mayor (Mr C. E. Mackay), who donated £1 Is to the Stanbury-Webb fund, offered to double his contribution providing a sailing race was arranged in connection with the affair.
