The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Wanganui, report as follows: — • We held our monthly sale to-day, and offered a catalogue of five bales and 70 bags of wool, mostly plucked wool and stragglers' fleece, 10Q0 sheep3khiß, 1150 hides and calfskins, one bale and six ba^B of horsehair, besides fat and tallow in tins and casks, cow tails, bones, and hoofs. The attendance of buyers was good, and , everything offered was sold under the hammer. Prices for sheepskins were below the level of last sale all round. Wool maintained late rates. Hides were, if anything, \ higher than previous sales, particularly good, stout ox and cow, which were very keenly competed for. We quote the following,range of values: — Wool. — Crossbred, rough fleece 73d and | Bd, crutchings (light and clean) GJd to 6Jd, crutchings (inferior and medium) 5Jd to 6d, locks and pieces 3d pcr 1 Ib. Sheepskins. — Crossbred (medium to fine) 7»d to BJd, crossbred (coarse) 7?, d, lambs 7^d, dead and inferior 0d to 7Jd, green and damp .> lod to 8s 2d each, salted 5s •>d to 7*j c. ir-h. Hides. — Good stout ox 28s 6d to 35s 6d each, medium 22s 6d to 28s, cow-hides 20g to 2f>3 fid. calfskins 3r*. Average prices for good souud hides at per pound — ox hides 6Jd to 6jjd. cow hides 6d to GJcl, calfskins 63d to 7»d.

Tallow.—ln casks .£25 and <£25- 10s per. ton ; in tins 19s per cwt. Horsehair. — Is 5d to Is 7d per lb. Horns. — 12s per 100. Bones. — 5s per cwt. Cov£ Tails. — Is 6Jd per doz. We might point out to our clients that the keenest competition is almost invariably for the good pelted sheepskins and well-flayed, carefully salted hides. The little extra expense is well repaid in the increased return. Our next sale will be held on the Bth November (a week earlier than shown on our sale date cards, on account of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association Show) and produce should reach us by the stfa November.
