MESSRS JOHNSTON AND CO.'S REPORT. We offered a fair catalogue to a number of buyers. Bidding was spirited, especially for good-conditioned butchers' skins and hides. In sympathy with the fall in the London markets, skins dropped $d to £d per lb. Wool. — Only bag lots offered. Coarse crossbred Bd, dead wool 7£d to 7fd, crutchinfs 6d, pieces 4d, locks (inferior) 2d. Skins. — Good line of 26 butchers' fereen) realised 10s 6d ; also line of 31 sold for 9s 9d; other green skins 6s 3d, 6s 7d, 6s Bd, 7b 2d, 7s Gd, 7s 7d, 7s 9d; crossbred skins (good) 7fd to Bd, inferior 7^d, dead and broken oj»d to 6£d, hoggets 7d, green lamb skins Is to Is Bd. Hides. — Ox medium 26s to 31s (under GOlbs), ox light 22s 6d. medium cow (under 501 b) 23s to 25s Gd, light cow (401 b and under) 15s 6d to 22s '6d, cut and slippy 10s to 235, yearlings 8s to 10s 4d, weaners 3s Id to 5s Id, calves' skins 2s 2d to 3s sd.
