Mr. Bent proposes some radical amendments to the Gaming Suppression Bill, including the licensing of racecourses at ,421 per annum, and taxing the gross revenue of racing clubs for charitable purposes, clubs with a revenue up to ,£6OO to pay three per cent, from ,£6OO to ,£IOOO four per cent., from .£IOOO upwards five per cent. On the basis of last year's revenue, the V.R.C. would have to pay .£3OOO. Mr. Bent also proposes to limit the number of racing days.
