ANNUAL MEETING OF THE WANGANUI ROWING CLUB.

The annual general meeting of the Wanganui Rowing Club was held last night, when about 50 members were present, Mr C. J. Wray presiding. ELECTION OF OFFlCEßS.— President, Mr C. J. Wray; vice-presidents, Messrs J. R. Orford, TnH. James, and C. E. Mackay; captain, Mr H. F. Tilley; deputy captain, Mr T. T. Bell; committee: representing active members, Messrs Spurdle, E. Day, D^ Baruett, and H. P. Lewis, representing non-active members, Messrs P. C. Price and R. F. Ballantine; hon. secretary, Mr T. D. Banks; hon. treasurer, Mr Peter Lewis (re-elected); official starter, Mr T. H. James ; assistant starter, Mr George Franklirf; auditors, Messre Silk and A. H. Lewis ; match committee, captain, deputy captain, and Mr D. Barnett.

. APPRECIATION.— Mr H. P. Lewis moved, "That this meeting hears with regret the decision of Mr C. V. Powell to retire from the position of president to the club, and desires to place on record its high appreciation of, and to accord him a hearty vote of thinks for, the many and valuable services which he has rendered to the club in the various offices he has held." In speaking to the motion, Mr Lewis referred to the many valuable services rendered the club by their late president. — The motion was carried unanimously, .those present singing, 'Tor He's a Jolly Good Fellow." OPENING OF THE SEASON.— The opening of the season was left to the committee. A hearty vote of thanks to the chair terminated a most successful meeting.
