GRAND BENEFIT PERFORMANCE. "LIBERTY HALL."

The Wanganui Caledonian Society and the members of the Highland Rifle Volunteers have made arrangements with the Wanganui Amateur Musical and Dramatic Society to stage the domestic drama, "Liberty Hall," on the 26th of this month, as a benefit to the well-known piper, Mr R. McTavish, who, through accident, is sorely in need of financial assistance. "Liberty Hall," when staged here last month, proved one of the most successful pieces yet played by our local amateurs, and as there are a great number of people who did not see the piece then, they will now have the opportunity of witnessing it, besides adding their mite towards a most worthy object. Tickets can be obtained from O'Hara's music warehouse, aud at all tobacconists' and hairdressers'. The box plan will be opened at H. I. Jones and Son's on Wednesday.

A public meeting will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church to-morrow evening at 7.30 o'clock, when Mr C. H. Bascand, Grand Lodge organising agent for the 1.0. G.T., will deliver an address. It is intended at the close of the meeting to open a lodge of Good Templars to meet at that end of the town.

DiiiATH. POWELL-.— At Wellington, on 17th September, 1906, Kate, the beloved wife of F. W. Powell.
