A verdict of accidental death ww returned at the inquest on franklin I'erini, who was killed while shunting ar Pukehou on the 4th inst. A rider was acldel that the Railway Department be rec-xnniciidiid that no men be sent as assistants on ni^u; trains and entrusted with lamps, unless they are proved efficient Ah signalling.
