SYDNEY, September 16.

The Newcastle conference of owners submitted -proposals under which they are prepared to abolish the dog watch in all pits excepting East Greta, Stanford, and Merthyr, where special conditions obtain. They will also advance the hewing rate fourpence, which will carry the advance in the price of coal to 10s per ton from the commencement of next year.

After a lengthy amicable discussion the conference adjourned till Tuesday morning. The raaes meeting of men called for tomorrow has been adjourned till Thursday. Meantime work in the Newcastle pits will continue.
