BLENHEUM, February 12. iu.contlv tho Hospital Hoard received tenders for a new hospital, the lowest of which was £11,000. This being double the amount of the funds available^ no tender was accented, ©•-day the Board resolved to call for fresh tenders, and to insert a provision in the contract providing for the cessation of work in the event of no further resources being available when the i.',">()() 0 now in hand is spent.

A mo vein on t is on foot to eroct a monument to mark Captain Cook's landing plare at Ship Covo in Qucon Charlotte Sound. It was at this point that Captain Cook hoisted the Union Jack, and formally took Kwsession of the South Island.

Owing to the exceedingly rough weather in the Straits disorganising shipping movements, Blenheim and the rest of Marlborough nave been without the Wellington mail since Thursday. The mail is now aboard a river steamer, which has »een stuck up outside Wairau bar, and will not be sorted till to-morrow. The delay has caused much inconvenience.
